OSI Food Solutions UK Wins 2019 Health and SAfety Award from British Safety Council
November 25, 2019 – OSI Food Solutions UK has once again earned a Sword of Honour from the British Safety Council for the company’s exemplary health and safety efforts.
OSI was one of 84 organizations worldwide that achieved a Sword of Honour, which is awarded to organizations that have demonstrated excellence in the management of health and safety risks at work. OSI Food Solutions UK actively develops systems, policies and procedures to improve and sustain health and safety practices with the ultimate aim of ensuring people can work in a safe, healthy environment. It is a key commitment within the company’s sustainability program.
In order to compete for this award, OSI needed to achieve the maximum five stars in the British Safety Council’s health and safety management audit scheme for the period August 2018 to July 2019. OSI also demonstrated to independent panels of experts that it continues to be excellent in its health and safety management throughout the business – from the shop floor to the boardroom.
“Achieving a five star outcome in a five star audit is in itself a great achievement,” said Mike Robinson, chief executive of the British Safety Council, “and demonstrates that an organization is operating to best practice standards in almost all aspects of health and safety.”
“Once again, we were able to demonstrate OSI’s commitment to high standards for health and safety and earn this award,” said Ian Hurley, OSI’s safety, security and environmental manager. “We highly value our workforce and work diligently to ensure our workers and workplaces are safe.”
The British Safety Council formally presented the awards at a luncheon on Friday, November 22, 2019.
Located in Scunthorpe, OSI Food Solutions UK has been in operation since 1988, producing beef and sausage products for the restaurant industry.
